Steelers Hoping Aaron Rodgers Can Outrun 'Father Time' One Last Time
· Yahoo Sports
Aaron Rodgers returning to the Pittsburgh Steelers for one final season should feel like a big deal. It still does, in a way. He’s a Hall of Fame quarterback and reunited with Mike McCarthy -- the coach who helped him defeat Pittsburgh in Super Bowl 45.
But PFF’s latest quarterback rankings put a damper on that conversation.

Rodgers was ranked No. 22 out of 32 NFL quarterbacks ahead of the 2026 season. That’s basement territory, but it’s not exactly comforting for a Steelers team hoping this reunion turns into something more than a nostalgia tour.
Rodgers is sandwiched between Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray and Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones. Most of the quarterbacks ranked behind him are either young, unproven, or wearing new colors in 2026, including Tyler Shough, Jaxson Dart, Geno Smith, Kirk Cousins, Tua Tagovailoa, Cam Ward, Malik Willis, Jacoby Brissett, and Deshaun Watson.
“Father Time has caught up with the 42-year-old” was hard to read but nevertheless obvious. Rodgers posted a 68.0 PFF overall grade last season, the worst mark of his career. Under pressure, he was even shakier, with a 38.1 PFF passing grade that ranked sixth-worst among qualifying quarterbacks.
That’s a glaring issue for an offense trying to squeeze the very last drop of Rodgers juice and an O-line that generally takes weeks to gel once the season gets underway.
PFF also noted how conservative Rodgers has become, which was painfully obvious last season. His 6.6-yard average depth of target was a career low and ranked fourth-lowest in the league. That fits the concern Steelers fans already have: Rodgers may still protect the football, but can he still push an offense when it needs more?
