This is Rodriguez’s first All-Star selection in his 11 seasons in the majors. He has enjoyed an improbably good season, posting a 2.21 ERA in 102 innings in 17 starts. It comes on the heels of back-to-back disappointing seasons with the Diamondbacks, who signed him to a four-year, $80 million deal in December 2023.
Carroll made the team via player ballot. Rodriguez was one of six selections made by Major League Baseball to fill out the remainder of the NL roster.
