Pilgrim's report said the 25-year-old from Estonia was to be extradited to West Virginia for a court hearing next week. KSR reported Kriisa was involved with a multimillion-dollar fraud scheme.

No added detail was provided.

From the KSR report: "The 25-year-old from Estonia’s arrest was in connection with a multimillion-dollar fraud scheme dating back to his time at West Virginia as a Mountaineer in 2023-24. He’s being extradited to West Virginia with a court hearing scheduled for next week. Kriisa averaged 5.8 points and 3.0 assists in 19 games this past season at Cincinnati."

Before his time in Cincinnati, Kriisa played for West Virginia, Kentucky and Arizona. Reports said Kriisa was planning to play pro basketball in Estonia.

Kriisa is named after Wildcats legend Steve Kerr, who was president of basketball operations and general manager of the Phoenix Suns from 2007 to 2010 before launching a legendary run as coach of the Golden State Warriors.

Kriisa was regular for the Bearcats

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound guard was UC's oldest player last season with a birthday of Jan. 2, 2001. He was Wes Miller's first transfer portal acquisition last season commiting to the Bearcats April 6, 2025.

Kriisa began as a regular for the Bearcats, starting 12 of his 19 games. He had primarily been a starter at Arizona from 2020 to 2023 and at West Virginia in 2023-24. However, after the beginning of 2026, he only appeared in six games.

After hitting a 3-pointer against Houston Jan. 7 at Fifth Third Arena, he left the game injured. He missed five straight games, then played sparingly in the next five.

After the Feb. 5 home loss to West Virginia, Kriisa wouldn't appear for the rest of the season. Krriisa had just 11 points in six games after the first of the year and finished the season averaging 5.8 points, with a game-high 20 points against Tarleton State Dec. 1.

He only played nine games with two starts at Kentucky before coming to UC as injuries kept him off the floor.
