Cobolli jokes about accommodation issues as he extends Wimbledon run

Flavio Cobolli kept his cool to book another quarter-final spot at Wimbledon with victory over Alex De Minaur and joked his father must book a longer stay in London next year.
The Italian delighted the Court One crowd in hot conditions with an array of eye-catching shots and failed to let two stoppages for spectators to receive treatment knock him off his stride on his way to a 7-5, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 victory on Monday.

French Open runner-up Cobolli offered his own water to one member of the crowd and later asked during his on-court interview if anyone had a spare room after the tenancy on the house he lived in for week one of the Championships ended.
It was a similar story in 2025 for Cobolli, who was forced to scramble around for a new place to stay on day eight of the tournament following victory over Marin Cilic.
Asked if next year his dad Stefano must book accommodation for the whole Wimbledon fortnight, Cobolli nodded and said: “Last year I had problems. This year I have problems. I hope that my dad find the right solution for the next one.
“My grandfather help us to find a solution for tonight, but we found solution for all the week, I hope.
“An Italian family give us all the house here in Wimbledon, so it’s really cool. I will say thanks to them when I see them.”
After a brilliant run in Roland Garros, Cobolli had already spent 10 hours and 25 minutes on court during his first week at Wimbledon, but showed no sign of slowing down against Australia’s own marathon man De Minaur.
An early break point passed Cobolli by but his no-fear tennis eventually paid dividends in the 11th game of the first set.
It was immediately followed by a short delay due to a spectator struggling with the 30 degrees Celsius heat and constant sunshine, which sparked quick-thinking Cobolli into action and he raced over with a water bottle.
Cobolli closed out set one before a six-minute stoppage occurred at 3-2 in the second for another member of the crowd and De Minaur sat next to his Italian rival in a rare shaded area on Court One.
Either side of this interruption proved to be De Minaur’s best spell, but with fiancée Katie Boulter watching on in an England shirt, the fifth seed let slip a 5-2 advantage and lost in a tie-break.
De Minaur attempted to rally but football-fan Cobolli again showed he could handle the heat with a booming forehand pushing his opponent to the brink before victory was marked with the ‘Siuuu’ celebration of Cristiano Ronaldo.
