The Dallas Cowboys have made several costly moves since the offseason began. Those investments have reshaped the roster and reinforced Jerry Jones' commitment to competing in 2026. New spending data now offers a clearer picture of where Dallas stands within the NFC East.
Jerry Jones leads Cowboys to highest roster spending in NFC East
Jerry Jones has backed the Cowboys with more financial resources than any other NFC East franchise. Dallas has invested $497.9 million into its 2026 roster through veteran cash spending and draft capital tied to players still on rookie contracts.
That figure places the Cowboys ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders and New York Giants.
Most of that investment comes through veteran contracts. About 60 percent of Dallas' roster allocation is devoted to veteran cash spending, the highest percentage in both the NFC East and the entire NFC.
While that approach may be difficult to maintain long term, it reflects the organization's determination to contend this season.
The Cowboys have concentrated their biggest investments at premium positions. Quarterback Dak Prescott, wide receivers CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, the defensive front and the secondary account for much of the spending.
The franchise has largely avoided committing major resources to running back, tight end and linebacker.
Although Prescott once signed a record-setting contract averaging $60 million per year, his cash payout for 2026 is $40 million. That ranks him tied for the league's 10th-highest paid quarterback this season.
Dallas also leads the division in wide receiver spending at $53.3 million and recently signed Brandon Aubrey to the NFL's highest-paid kicker contract.
Jerry Jones has continued reshaping the roster through calculated moves. After acquiring additional draft capital in the Micah Parsons trade, Dallas added Quinnen Williams and selected Malachi Lawrence, LT Overton and Devin Moore.
The Cowboys have not mortgaged their future, but their spending clearly signals an all-in approach toward chasing another Super Bowl.
