Canfield 12U tops Boardman in district tournament thriller

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – Canfield 12U came from behind to take down Boardman, 3-2, and force an “If-Game” in the championship of the 2026 Ohio District 2 Baseball Tournament.

The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the 3rd when Kylar Diaz came through with a bases loaded 2-run single to give Boardman a 2-0 lead.
Canfield would answer back in the top of the 4th, when Blake Himes drove in two runs before coming all the way around to score to go on top 3-2.
Cam Brown for Canfield would go on to strand two Boardman base runners in the bottom of the 6th to stay alive in the double elimination format.
With the win, Canfield LL will once again take on Boardman on Friday, July 10 at 6 p.m.
The winner will advance to the 12U Little League State Tournament from July 18-24 in Boardman at the Fields of Dreams.
