Another UCLA Bruins infielder is off the board in the 2026 MLB Draft. After Roch Cholowsky and Mulivai Levu came off the board, the Athletics selected third baseman Roman Martin in the fourth round with the No. 111 overall pick.

The A’s got good value with Martin in the fourth round, with the UCLA third baseman providing stellar defense and has a knack for reaching base. If Martin wasn’t playing alongside a superstar in Cholowsky, he likely would have been playing shortstop, with scouts believing in Martin as a plus defender at whichever spot he ends up at.

Martin had an on base percentage of .446 as a junior with a .333 average and a career-high nine home runs. While Martin may not have the home run power of his fellow UCLA infielders, he still managed to collect 21 home runs and 41 doubles in 159 career games with the Bruins.

The A’s add another infielder to their artillery, already having Jacob Wilson, Max Muncy, Nick Kurtz and Zach Gelof. If Martin does make it to the big leagues with the A’s, he’ll have a great park to hit in whether the team is still in Sacramento or have made the move down to Las Vegas.

Similarly to the other UCLA infielders selected, Martin is a California native that spent his entire collegiate career with the Bruins before getting drafted. Martin is the fourth Bruin off the board, joining Cholowsky, Levu and right-handed pitcher Logan Reddemann.
