The world No. 2 and six-time major champion co-led the Genesis Scottish Open after 36 holes but struggled in the third round, falling six shots behind the leaders with only a round to play. On Sunday, however, he made a valiant run up the leaderboard and got within two shots of the leaders at multiple times in the final round, but a costly mistake at the par-4 16th hole all but ended his chances.
From the middle of the fairway, McIlroy pulled his iron shot left of the green and into the fescue, and it gave us one of the best soundbites of the year.
"Oh my God, I'm so bad at golf," McIlroy said painfully, his voice fully rising to the occasion of the physical and mental anguish coursing through his body after the shot.

He hit a brilliant third shot but still could managed only a bogey, dropping three shots behind then-leader Tom Kim with only two holes to play.
Anyone knows McIlroy is, in fact, not bad at golf. He has won six majors, including consecutive Masters, and will be one of the favorites next week at the Open Championship.
But for at least one shot Sunday, Mcllroy's hilarious sound bite reminded others that even professionals sometimes feel just like us.
