It took the Wales 93 years – from the first meeting in St Helen’s in Swansea on 1 December 1906 to 26 June 1999 at the then Millennium Stadium in Cardiff – to register their first win over the Springboks.

The Springboks beat England 45-21 and Scotland 42-28 in their earlier tournament matches, while Wales beat Fiji 39-24 before losing 35-21 against Argentina.

South Africa head into the match as the No 1-ranked team in the World Rugby rankings, while Wales are down in 12th spot.
