Unity grad brings all-conference experience to EIU softball

CHARLESTON, Ill. (WCIA) — Ruby Tarr made a big impact over two seasons at Western Illinois softball.

The former Unity Rocket made the All-OVC Newcomer team as a freshman, and as a sophomore, she earned first-team all-conference honors after batting .355 with 33 RBI.
After a coaching change at Western, she entered the transfer portal and landed at EIU, a place she said checked all the boxes for what she was looking for in her next school.
“They like to win and they’re going to push me to be better, be the best that I can be to do it all over again this year, so I’m looking forward to growing with them,” Tarr said. “Obviously, I have to get to know these girls, and I’m very excited, so I got to meet a few of them already, and I think that we all have the same goal in common.”
Tarr is set to be a junior for an EIU team coming off back-to-back NCAA Tournament bids and OVC regular season titles.
