ASU FB icon Cam Skattebo staggers on backflip, social media lights up
· Yahoo Sports
Arizona State football legend Cam Skattebo, set for training camp as he enters his second year with the New York Giants, isn't changing the minds of those who question his decision-making.
Visit catcross.biz for more information.
On Saturday, July 18, he staggered after trying to land a backflip at a Fanatics event, and the football world reacted. He appeared no worse for wear.
Skattebo, now 24, suffered serious leg and ankle injuries in Week 8 of his rookie season — after making a splash and endearing himself to Giants fans — and has said his rehab is on schedule and that he'll be ready for Week 1 this year.
A fourth-round draft pick by the Giants, Skattebo ran for 410 yards in the 2025 season and scored five times on the ground. He also had 24 receptions for 207 yards and two TDs.
Seven touchdowns in eight NFL games is a great start, and he figures to be prominent in the New York offense again in 2026.
You know what Giants coach John Harbaugh was thinking after watching Skattebo stumble after an on-stage backflip? Probably something that contains a season's worth of expletives.
everyone: don’t do dumb shit rehabbing a leg injury

Like a moth to a flame, Skattebo happily immersed himself in Fanatics Fest in New York City. Before the flip, Skattebo pulled up a pants leg on his shorts to show the surgery scars. And then launched.
The backflip? Simone Biles isn't worried about the competition if she saw the grace with which it was performed.
Skattebo took part a few other borderline-athletic events on Saturday, captured here in a New York Post X post.

A writer who has covered Skattebo since he was drafted by the Giants, Art Stapleton of northjersey.com (part of the USA TODAY Sports network), told his hundreds of thousands of X followers that people need to grab the reins on the criticism, writing:
"The reax to Cam Skattebo’s backflip at Fanatics Fest is absurd given he did one TWO MONTHS AGO at the Brian Burns celebrity softball.
"But Skattebo was practicing as spring ended. His leg/ankle is pretty much healed. I wouldn’t want Skatt doing it, but ignoring all else is dumb."
No doubt most, if not all, of the ASU football community remains fully behind everything "Skatt" and can only smile and nod when seeing his latest exploits.
