The New York Yankees are an incomplete team without Aaron Judge.

But he's not coming to save them any time soon. That's the reality general manager Brian Cashman faces as the trade deadline nears.
Without Judge, the offense is nowhere close to good enough to win a World Series.
Who knows what Giancarlo Stanton's situation is. The 36-year-old cannot be relied on, as a calf injury has kept him out since April.
The Yankees need upgrades, badly.
To make significant trades, players who are everyday contributors need to be made available.
"To make bigger changes than just marginal upgrades, the Yankees may have to consider trading players such as [Jasson] Domínguez, [Anthony] Volpe, Spencer Jones and some of their pitching depth, like Will Warren and Elmer Rodríguez," wrote The Athletic's Chris Kirschner.
"And if moving any of these players is what it takes to swing big, so be it," he added.
Trading from their pitching depth wouldn't be the worst idea for the Yankees. They have a plethora of starting pitching options, especially with Max Fried and Clarke Schmidt returning from the IL.

Carlos Rodon, also on the IL, should be back sooner than both starters. Where does that leave Warren and Rodriguez? In all likelihood, out of a rotation spot.
The Yankees have to give up talent to acquire talent. They need a replacement at catcher over Austin Wells, and guys like Shea Langeliers and Hunter Goodman are intriguing options.
But neither of those All-Stars will fix the lineup's woes. Cashman has serious work to do, and one or a few of the players Kirschner listed could be on the trading block.
