During its July Unpacked event, Samsung officially unveiled its next-generation of foldable Galaxy devices. There's the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, which, despite the name, is really the successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The Galaxy Z Fold 8, instead, is actually a new device, introducing a lighter design (and a slightly smaller price tag) than the Z Fold 8 Ultra. Finally, there's the Z Flip 8, which actually doesn't change much from the Z Flip 7.

If you're in the market for a new foldable smartphone, these new devices might be on your radar. Even the Z Flip 8's minor adjustments might prove a worthwhile upgrade if your Flip device is more than a few years old. While you can't buy one today, you can preorder any of them right now.
How to preorder the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is Samsung's premium foldable for 2026. Out of Samsung's newest products, it has the biggest and best cameras (200MP Wide, 50MP Ultra Wide, and 10MP Tele), the largest displays (6.5-inch outer display, 8-inch inner display), the biggest battery (5,000 mAh), and, unfortunately, comes with the biggest price tag. If you're interested, you can preorder from the following links:
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra (256 GB): $2,099.99 at Samsung
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra (512 GB): $2,299.99 at Samsung
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra (1TB): $2,699.99 at Samsung

A lot of people are going to think the Z Fold 8 is the upgraded version of the Z Fold 7, but it's not. This is a lighter take on Samsung's foldable, which might appeal to users who want a phablet that takes up a little less space in their pocket. It comes with a 5.5-inch outer display, a 7.6-inch inner display, three rear cameras (50MP Wide, 50MP Ultra Wide, and 2x Optical Zoom), and the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip as the rest of the "Z 8" line. With that lighter framework comes a slightly smaller MSRP (emphasis on slightly), as the Z Fold 8 starts at $1,899.99. Here are the preorder links from Samsung:

The Z Flip 8 isn't much changed from the Z Flip 7. It comes with a 4.1-inch outer display and a 6.9-inch inner display (though the peak brightness increases to 2600 nits from 1600 nits), 12GB of RAM, and similar cameras to the Z Flip 7, including a 50MP Wide, 12MP Ultra Wide, and 10X Digital Zoom. (That said, it does have a new 2x optical zoom.) It also upgrades the SoC from the Exynos 2500
As such, this isn't the device you upgrade to if you bought Samsung's flip phone last year. Still, it's the company's flagship Z Flip, so if you're looking to upgrade, or thinking about picking up a flip phone for the first time, it's one to consider. Here's where to preorder:
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 (256 GB): $1,199.99 at Samsung
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 (512GB): $1,399.99 at Samsung
