The unclaimed Daily Lotto prize nobody has come forward for
Someone bought a Daily Lotto ticket in East London in early October last year that matched the numbers drawn to win R55 012.
Months later, nobody has claimed it.
National Lottery rules give winners 365 days to come forward to collect their prize. That puts the deadline at 2 October 2026.
While it’s a modest win compared to the multimillion rand jackpots that usually make headlines, that may be exactly why it has slipped through the cracks.
Smaller wins are often the easiest to forget, especially when they come from a game played every single day.
What happens if the deadline passes
If the ticket is not claimed by 2 October 2026, the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund receives the money instead.
From there, it gets redirected toward charities, sport, arts and community development rather than the player who actually won it.

Sizekhaya is still processing old tickets
Sizekhaya, which took over as the National Lottery’s operator on 1 June 2026, continues to process claims on outstanding ITHUBA-era tickets like this one.
Players do not need to worry about the change in operator affecting a valid claim.
I always say the same thing when these stories come up: an unclaimed Daily Lotto prize of R55 012 might not make front page news, but it is still real money sitting forgotten in someone’s ticket drawer.
