Kaizer Chiefs fans question their latest signing
In the comments sections on Facebook, there have been some scathing responses to the acquisition of Adolf Mtasingwa. Several supporters feel as though he’s not of the calibre required by the club. Meanwhile, Kabelo Nkgwesa was given a run-out in Chiefs’ first friendly match of the tour, a 1-1 draw against Scottish giants Rangers. After getting a taste of first-team football, the 19-year-old left-back, nicknamed ‘Festival’, wants more.
Could Kaizer Chiefs favourite Duba be sold?
Wandile Duba is arguably the best finisher at Chiefs, and he’s popular among fans. Now 22, the versatile attacking star can play through the middle as a number 9 or as a wide player in a front three. A return of three goals and two assists in 18 league outings last term isn’t great, but he does have a knack for scoring spectacular goals, often in big games. Will that attract interest from elsewhere in South Africa or overseas?
Latest rumours
According to several local reports, Stellenbosch winger Langelihle Phili remains near the top of Chiefs’ transfer wish list. The Glamour Boys could put together a player-plus-cash package to lure the 21-year-old to Naturena. Ashley du Preez could be the makeweight. Pacey, diminutive star Phili got seven goals in 27 league outings last term. Glody Lilepo could be on the way out for big money.
