Jurgen Klopp will replace Julian Nagelsmann as the manager of the German national team, but he made it clear to fans that he won’t tolerate what Nagelsmann went through.
The last-remaining embers of Germany’s 2014 World Cup win were doused in 2026 as manager Nagelsmann saw his squad sent home in the Round of 32 by Paraguay.

With Nagelsmann stepping aside and Klopp coming in, the former Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool manager made his expectations of the national team’s fans clear.
Jurgen Klopp won’t tolerate the same fan abuse as his predecessors
With the German FA unveiling Klopp as their new manager, the 59-year-old spoke and warned fans of the national team not to cross the line and attack his family, or else he will resign without looking back.
“I’m not doing this job for myself. I’m doing it for you. I’m taking this job even though I’ve seen how you’ve treated Julian Nagelsmann. I’m taking it even though I’ve seen how you’ve treated Thomas Tuchel. If you go after my family, I’m gone. If you think I’m rubbish, tell me to my face, and I’ll leave immediately, without asking for any compensation.”
Klopp is referring to the harsh treatment that England manager and fellow German Thomas Tuchel and former coach Nagelsmann received after their countries’ disappointing World Cup exits.
Fans tend to go overboard with online abuse and can cross family lines during bad times, but Klopp is making it clear that it will not be acceptable to him.
Jurgen Klopp is a decorated manager
While Klopp hasn’t managed a national team before, his astute tactics took him to the pinnacle of European football.

He has won in almost every competition he’s competed in, so he hopes that success translates over to the German national team as they rebuild themselves into European superpowers.
Germany is currently ranked 12th in the FIFA World Rankings after the 2026 World Cup. That makes them the seventh-best European squad as well, indicating the mountain Klopp will look to climb in two years at Euro 2028.
