3 takeaways from Davante Adams' ranking on the top 100 players list
· Yahoo Sports
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams was ranked as the 53rd-best player in the NFL by his peers, returning to the Top 100 Players list after missing it last season. Following an amazing debut season for the Rams, here are three observations from the rankings.

A tad too low
Adams is an older player, and he didn't hit 1,000 yards, which greatly affects his stock. But he also missed multiple games to end the season and considering he likely would have reached 1,000 yards if the Rams let him play, it's hard to hold that against him – especially when he led the league in touchdowns.
Adams was so dominant that he was targeted inside the 5 at the highest rate recorded this century. Adams also proved that regardless of coverage or matchup, the tricks he knows about creating space and leverage at the line of scrimmage should have placed him in the top 50.
Why A.J Brown again?
Adams was a candidate to be traded away this offseason, as the Rams looked into potentially adding A.J. Brown. While the move did not happen and Brown became a member of the New England Patriots, it is a bit curious what the benefit would've been if the move had been made.
It's important to bring that up because the Rams were willing to deal Adams with a year left on his current deal. Considering he's still one of the NFL's best, how will Adams and the Rams manage a potential future together, if there's even one to build?
To be fair, if the Rams win a Super Bowl, Adams might retire before the question is even asked.
Adams at his peak
The important thing to remember is that from the end of OTAs to a few weeks before the season, Adams and Matthew Stafford had virtually no opportunities to practice together because of Stafford's back issues. Fast forward to now and the NFL's No. 1 combo for creating touchdowns has a year of experience under their belt working together, while Adams enters his second season in the McVay offense.
During his time in Green Bay, using his own version of the McVay offense, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur schemed up back-to-back MVP campaigns for Aaron Rodgers, using Adams as the focal point of the attack. Adams had a massive jump from Year 1 to Year 2 under LaFleur, so we could see the same happen with McVay.
