Miami Marlins No. 5 prospect Starlyn Caba knocked in his 13th RBI double of the season during High-A Beloit’s 10-8 win over the Quad Cities River Bandits on Sunday.

The Sky Carp scored seven runs in the third inning to secure their 11th win over Quad Cities this season. Wilson Weber hit two home runs, including his first career grand slam. His five RBI were the most in his young career.

While his overall slash line isn’t All-Star caliber, Caba has a .392 on-base percentage and 20 stolen bases so far this season with the Sky Carp. That’s a vast improvement over his 2025 season with the Jupiter Hammerheads, which finished in the Arizona Fall League.

The Dominican shortstop stole 50 bases in 2024 in the Philadelphia Phillies farm system. He was a key prospect in a trade with the Miami Marlins that sent Jesús Luzardo to Philadelphia. His speed and defense have scouts comparing Caba to Javier Sanoja, who won a Gold Glove as a utility player in his rookie season with the Marlins last year.

The Sky Carp remain on top in the Midwest League South Division with a 20-10 second-half record. Beloit will take on the West Michigan Whitecaps this week, starting on Tuesday at LMCU Ballpark.

Minor League Rundown

Triple-A Jacksonville dropped to .500 on the season (50-50) after being swept by the Worcester Red Sox last week. Like the Miami Marlins, the Jumbo Shrimp have lost 12 straight games.

Marlins No. 6 prospect Cam Cannarella stole a base in three straight games. The Jumbo Shrimp will host the Memphis Red Birds on Tuesday.

Double-A Pensacola took 5-of-6 against the Columbus Clingstones, winning the series finale, 4-2, off the bat of No. 10 prospect LF Brandon Compton.

Compton drove in all four runs for the Blue Wahoos with a home run and an RBI double. He has hit more home runs (11) than anyone else in Double-A since his promotion on June 30.

No. 16 prospect LF Brendan Jones scored twice and extended his Pensacola lead in walks (43) and stolen bases (34).

The Blue Wahoos improved to 15-11 in the second half of the season and are 1.5 games out of a playoff spot. Pensacola will take on the Smokies this week in Knoxville, Tenn.

Single-A Jupiter defeated Lakeland 16-5 to split the series on Sunday. Andres Valor went 3-for-5 with a home run and was a triple shy of the cycle. His five RBI set a new career high.

No. 14 prospect Luis Cova doubled and homered while Echedry Vargas also homered with four RBI in the contest.

Marlins’ No. 26 prospect PJ Morlando also recorded his ninth multi-hit game of the season.

While the Marlins host the Phillies in Miami this week, the Hammerheads will host their Single-A affiliate, the Clearwater Threshers, on Tuesday. The Hammerheads have clinched a Florida State League postseason berth after securing the East Division First Half title.
