Report: In-state defensive lineman leaves Wisconsin's football program

· Yahoo Sports

In a surprising development, in-state defensive lineman Torin Pettaway has left the Wisconsin Badgers football program.

Visit sport-tr.bet for more information.

Pettaway was redshirted as a freshman in 2025. He had quite a wild ride prior to his collegiate career, as he committed to the Badgers, flipped to Minnesota, and then went back on his decision and decided to indeed come play in Madison.

No exact reason was given for Pettaway's decision to leave, but BadgerExtra's Colton Bartholomew noted that he decided to leave the team and "was not dismissed by the staff."

As a senior, the Middleton graduate was named the Big Eight defensive end of the year. Not only that, but he was a finalist for the Tim Krumrie Award.

With such a strong representation of Wisconsin natives in the class of 2027, it's a tough pill to swallow to see an in-state developmental piece like this go. It doesn't seem like Pettaway will ever wear a Badgers uniform, so the team will have to look elsewhere as they try to replace yet another piece of their defense.
