UPDATE 8:02 p.m.: Not sure what’s going on here. Tarp just was rolled off infield two minutes after it was put back on. The skies are pitch black. Looks like more rain is coming at some point.

NEW YORK — Wednesday night’s Yankees-Cardinals’ series finale is in jeopardy due to a lot of rain in the forecast.
With dark clouds hovering over Yankee Stadium, the tarp was rolled onto infield at 6:30 p.m.
The Yankees announced at 6:48 p.m. that the game “would not start on time.”
According to weather.com’s forecast, rain is expected to start before the scheduled 7:05 p.m. first pitch and might not stop until 2 a.m.
If the game is rained out, it likely will be made up Thursday. Both teams are off.
The teams split the first two games of the interleague series with St. Louis prevailing 13-7 Monday night and the Yankees winning 2-0 on Tuesday night when No. 1 prospect George Lombard Jr. played shortstop and homered in his first major-league debut.

7 p.m. Rain, 92 percent.
8 p.m.: Showers, 51 percent.
9 p.m.: Showers, 70 percent.
10 p.m.: Light rain, 68 percent.

Midnight: Isolated thunderstorms, 31 percent.
