According to Alabama's name, image and likeness collective, Crowell had a "minor ankle tweak" Sunday, Aug. 9. Crowell had just returned to practice after missing spring with what the collective is calling a "minor ankle injury."

DeBoer said that Crowell would "miss a few practices."

Alabama also lost AK Dear to a "lower-leg fracture," per the collective, during the Crimson Tide's first fall scrimmage.

While Crowell's emergence is highly anticipated, Alabama has two returning backs at the top of its depth chart in Daniel Hill and Kevin Riley. Freshman Trae'shawn Brown has turned heads as a true freshman and could take hold of significant playing time. Alabama also signed transfer Khalifa Keith to bolster its run game.
