Enes Kanter has been making waves in recent weeks after announcing his intention to declare for the 2027 WNBA Draft. Kanter has been identifying as a woman, which he is playing straight, but no one in the WNBA is believing this to be sincere in the slightest.
It all came to a head on Sunday when Kanter came to watch the clash between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky — with Sky guard Natasha Cloud not being too pleased with the former NBA center’s presence.
Cloud got into a shouting match with Kanter, pointing towards the Turkish international who was seated along the baseline. Kanter fed into the fracas, stepping towards the baseline in a tense moment that required officials to separate the two. Kanter was eventually escorted out of the building.

The Turkish international’s stance on what makes one eligible for the WNBA has become either a rallying cry or a point of contention among those who agree or disagree with him, respectively. But it’s getting to a point where he’s become an intrusive figure — much to Milwaukee Bucks forward Kyle Kuzma’s dismay.
“Look at the drama queen….. no not Natasha. Grown man stepping over the baseline at a women 🤡,” Kuzma wrote on his official X account in response to Kanter’s actions.
Kanter must have known how his presence in Wintrust Arena would be received. He’s angered a considerable portion of the WNBA fanbase for his outspokenness on what makes a woman a woman, which then defines their eligibility for joining the association. And Cloud wasn’t just about to let Kanter push his stance unopposed.
As for Kuzma, it must be surreal to see a former NBA peer in Kanter, who has since changed his surname to Freedom, go this route. The Turkish center, who was drafted third overall in the 2011 NBA Draft, already spent 11 years in the association. Now 34 years of age, he has chosen to be the face of a political stance that appears to have done nothing but further divide.
