Mississauga man arrested in 2022 Etobicoke shooting; knife-wielding teens charged in Oshawa

Toronto Police said a man wanted in a shooting that killed two men in Etobicoke close to five years ago has been arrested in Windsor over the weekend.

Police said back on Jan. 3, 2022, at 8:45 p.m., police had responded to a shooting on 150 Thirtieth St., finding two men suffering from gunshot wounds, and a woman nearby with injuries.
Police said they were taken to a local hospital where the two men died of their injuries, while the woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The two men were identified by police as Minyali Wur, 24, and Chudier Reat, 20, both of Mississauga. They were Toronto’s third and fourth homicide victims that year.
Toronto Police said Windsor Police on Saturday located and arrested a suspect wanted in connection with the homicide.
Darriel Thompson has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder and attempted murder.

Two teens charged in Oshawa armed assault: Police
Durham Regional Police said two teen boys are facing charges over an alleged armed assault in Oshawa on Saturday.
Police said officers responded to a call in the Glen St. and Malaga Rd. area regarding a report of two teens armed with knives who were seen chasing two other males.
Police said both suspects had fled as officers arrived on scene, but the two were located with the help a police drone.
Police said the two were taken into custody.
A 15-year-old boy from Oshawa is charged with obstructing a peace officer, possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose, and failure to comply with a Youth Criminal Justice Act sentence.
Police said the teen was on weapons prohibition conditions at the time of his arrest.
The second teen, also a 15-year-old boy from Oshawa, is charged with obstructing a peace officer, possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose, and failure to comply with an undertaking.
Police said he was wanted on outstanding arrests warrants and bound by weapons prohibition conditions at the time of his arrest.

Firearms seized after gunshots reported in Hamilton
Hamilton Police said five firearms have been seized after officers responded to reports of gunfire in Stoney Creek on Sunday.
Police said officers were called to a property on Mud Street E. at around 6:36 p.m., where officers noticed several people fleeing on foot.
Police said officers secured the scene and arrested multiple individuals.
During their investigation, officers found and seized five firearms from the property, including a semi-automatic carbine rifle and a shotgun.
Police said several people were taken into custody and later released, pending further investigation.
Police said there currently is no information to suggest the gunfire was directed at any person or residence.
It said members of the force’s Shooting Response Team have taken over the investigation.

Man arrested in hate-motivated assault in Scarborough: Police
Toronto Police said a man has been arrested in an alleged assault at a business in Scarborough on Monday.
Police said the accused was at a retail location in the Finch Ave. E. and McCowan Rd. area, where he allegedly made “anti-Muslim utterances” before approaching the victim.
He then allegedly approached and assaulted the victim without provocation, and allegedly continued making “anti-Muslim comments” during and after the alleged assault.
Police said the accused was located and arrested shortly after with a weapon.
Sharan Karunakaran, 31, of Toronto, has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and offence motivated by hatred – assault causing bodily harm.
Police said they are investigating the incident as a hate-motivated assault.

Driver charged in fatal St. Catharines crash
The Ontario Provincial Police said a driver has been charged in a deadly highway crash that happened in St. Catharines late last year.
The OPP said Tuesday that officers from its Niagara detachment and its Highway Safety Division Traffic Support Unit arrested a 19-year-old woman from St. Catharines in connection with the crash on Hwy. 406, south of the Queen Elizabeth Way in St. Catharines.
Police said on Dec. 3, 2025, at 8:20 p.m., a vehicle was travelling south on that stretch of Hwy. 406 when it lost control and rolled into the centre ditch.
Police said an 18-year-old woman from Thorold who was sitting in the rear passenger seat was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the driver and a front seat passenger, a 20-year-old woman from Welland, were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries.
The driver was charged with dangerous operation causing death and dangerous operation causing bodily harm.
Police said the accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Catharines on Oct. 19.
