The Bluejays bring back five seniors, all starters, to a lineup that went 22-8 overall and 10-1 in the Camden Conference last season. That led to a No. 2 seed in the Section 3A-North bracket.
"We are excited to see what this experienced group of young women can accomplish," said CMCS head coach Laura Rosen. She sports a 54-29 record going into her fourth season. Her assistant coaches are Melanie Vander Ark and Sydney Damhof.
Rosen continued, "They have spent many high-school and JO seasons together, building strong chemistry, trust and a deep understanding of one another's game, which we hope will help us build on last season's success."
The back line will be led by senior libero Aurora Rosen. A two-time All-Camden pick and an All-Area Honorable Mention, Rosen had a Bluejay-best 475 digs. She also had 28 ace serves.
Two senior outside hitters return with Maddy Vander Ark and Emery Fussy. Both listed at 5-foot-7, An All-Camden selection, Vander Ark had 189 kills, 261 digs and a team-high 45 ace serves. Fussy had 153 kills, 312 digs and 24 ace serves.
Orchestrating the offense is 5-8 senior setter Sienna Duininck. Her 433 assists led the Bluejays last season. She also had 221 digs, 113 kills and 36 ace serves.
That trio will try to replace one of its top attackers from last season in setter/right-side hitter Emmi Braem. She was named Class A All-State after putting up a team-high 285 kills along with 291 set assists, 263 digs and 32 ace serves. CMCS also has to replace Reece Duininck.
The top defender at the net is 5-10 senior middle blocker Kaylee Dannen. She had a team-high 28 solo blocks along with 96 kills.
"Their leadership, both on and off the court, will be key as our younger players step into new roles," said Laura Rosen. "We will continue to build on our strong defensive presence while further developing our offensive weapons. With the experience, leadership and chemistry this group brings, we are excited for the potential of this team and what they can accomplish this season."
