Liverpool are closing in on a dream midfielder after Fabrizio Romano's latest update.
There has understandably been plenty of focus on Liverpool's attack in the final days of the transfer window.

Richard Hughes is working to get a deal for Bradley Barcola over the line, and that pursuit could finally reach a successful conclusion in the coming days.
But Barcola is not the only attacking player on Liverpool's radar.
The Reds have also found themselves scrambling for a suitable option on the right wing. Ibrahim Mbaye had been under consideration for some time, with reports even suggesting that personal terms had been agreed.
More recently, however, Liverpool have broadened their search. Bids have been submitted for both Yankuba Minteh and Ismaila Sarr, only for those approaches to be rejected.
The need for a right-winger is obvious. Mohamed Salah left the club at the end of last season, leaving a huge void on that side of the pitch. Liverpool were always going to need to find a replacement.
What is harder to understand is why the search appears to have reached this stage so late in the window.
Liverpool would have known about Salah's impending departure months ago. There was plenty of time to prepare a clear recruitment strategy and identify multiple targets.
Much of the club's planning may have centred around Yan Diomande, but that cannot have been the only option. Once it became clear that he was not heading to Anfield, Liverpool should have been ready to move quickly onto the next name on the list.
That is what well-prepared recruitment departments do. Instead, with the window rapidly approaching its conclusion, Liverpool appear to be searching for solutions they should arguably have had lined up months ago.
Why Liverpool could still sign a midfielder
Liverpool have dithered for too long, failed to make decisive moves, and now find themselves in a desperate position heading into the final days of the transfer window.
But failing to sign a right-winger would not be their only mistake. Leaving the window without adding another midfielder could prove just as damaging.
Let's be honest: Liverpool's options in the middle of the pitch are looking increasingly thin.
With Curtis Jones now gone and Stefan Bajcetic expected to follow, these are the players realistically capable of operating in the double pivot:
James McConnell has not been included because he does not appear ready to make the step up just yet and is likely to leave on loan. Endo's future is also uncertain, with the Japanese midfielder potentially departing on a permanent basis before the deadline.
Nyoni is undoubtedly one of Liverpool's brightest young talents, but the club should not be placing too much responsibility on his shoulders at this stage of his development.
More importantly, Liverpool need a different profile in midfield.
The game against Newcastle highlighted exactly why. Andoni Iraola's system demands enormous discipline in the middle of the pitch. It requires someone who understands when to hold their position, when to protect the defence and when to commit forward.
Liverpool need a more defensively minded midfielder who can provide that balance.
It is something the recruitment team clearly recognises, with the club continuing to explore options. But, as has been the case elsewhere in the window, the concern is that Liverpool are once again leaving themselves with very little time to find the right solution.
One of the club's main targets who they have been in touch to sign all summer is Lamine Camara. Chelsea are also trying to sign the Senegalese midfielder.
Monaco are reluctant to sell but Liverpool might have just gotten a step closer.
Fabrizio Romano has shared that Monaco are signing Erik Lira, who is a Mexican midfielder.
That update opens the door for Camara, who would be a dream midfield addition, to leave Monaco and join Liverpool. But the Reds will need to act fast.
