Demetrious Johnson explained the fight-ending sequence of Song Yadong vs. Umar Nurmagomedov.
Song (24-9-1 MMA, 13-4-1 UFC) knocked out former title challenger Nurmagomedov (20-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC) in the second round of their UFC Fight Night 286 headliner at Shanghai Oriental Sports Center in China.

Song came up as a big underdog when he caught Nurmagomedov dipping to the left, a tendency which almost cost him in his win over Bekzat Almakhan at UFC Fight Night 238.
"Look at the footing position right here," Johnson said on his YouTube channel. "Beautiful footing position from Song. Outside, outside of the lead leg. All his weight, his right hand is lined up for the best shot he can give, and that bad boy lands and shocks the whole world. Lands perfectly. Feints the upper hand, that shot when he's (Nurmagomedov) going down like that, Umar has no idea where Song is. That shot comes and lands and hits him like that. I mean, that's a kill shot right there, boys. This is an equilibrium shot.
"He's spread out from his head to body, so he's already separated, and that shot lands right there on the ear and the neck. Dude, there's nothing you can do. There's nothing you can do. The only thing he could have did different, Umar, is back up, use his footwork to feint, move, move. Don't overreact. This is the overreaction, and Song was able to find the right shot and knock him out. It's just because Umar didn't want to exchange with him, meaning that he didn't want to clinch, pop, pop, pop, come close and fight. But beautiful shot from Song."
The loss to Song was just the second of Nurmagomedov's career. Prior to that, his only blemish was a close decision to Merab Dvalishvili in a title fight at UFC 311.
