May's Struggles Continue as Rangers End Brewers Winning Streak

The Milwaukee Brewers weren't able to sweep the Texas Rangers as they fell in the series finale, 7-4.

After taking the first two games, 6-1 and 5-3, the Rangers were able to take advantage of another rocky outing from the recently acquired Dustin May.

May still has the month of September to get on track before the postseason, but this start was notable as it came just a few days after he was struck in the back with a ball that was hit 106 mph off the bat.

In the end, he would allow four earned runs on six hits in 4.1 innings, and then Grant Anderson allowed three runs total in his two innings of work, though only one was earned.

Thankfully for the Brewers, manager Pat Murphy was able to get 2.2 innings out of Bryse Wilson, so Milwaukee's bullpen is still in fantastic shape with a four-game slate upcoming at Wrigley Field.

May falls to 6-9 this season

It wasn't the prettiest of starts from May, but in all honesty, that should've been expected after what happened the other night.

May was pulled from that game after the very first pitch he threw, and this could've been a situation of the Brewers simply rushing him back, even though all of the X-rays and everything came back negative.

May walked three batters and allowed a home run as part of the 97 pitches that were required to record 13 outs.

Now 6-9 this season, May is still a 0.4 WAR player, though his 4.69 ERA and 1.32 WHIP have certainly seen better days.

Brewers struck out 11 times

Knowing the Chicago Cubs were looming, this simply could've been a situation where the Brewers were looking past the Rangers in the series finale.

After dominating them with relative ease in the first two games, the Brewers couldn't keep things rolling, and their four-game winning streak came to an end.

At the end of the day, they're still a dominant 85-52 and hold a 7.5-game lead in the National League West.

The only Brewers player to have a multi-hit game in this one was ninth hitter Joey Ortiz. Gary Sanchez was one of three players to have an RBI, and his two came from the 200th home run of his lengthy career.

Elsewhere, Jake Bauers and Jackson Chourio both drove in a run each, though Bauers, Sanchez, and Christian Yelich struck out twice in this one.
