Top OTs in the 2027 Rivals300: Blue-chippers creating chaos in the trenches

There’s an incredible amount of talent at the offensive tackle position when looking at the updated 2027 Rivals300 rankings. There’s 23 blue-chip OTs featured in the top 300 and all are currently committed, as of Sept. 4.
Ten of the 23 are committed to an SEC program, and that includes seven of the top eight tackles. Five are locked in with the Big Ten, leaving four for the ACC, two for the Big 12, one for Notre Dame and one for the Group of Six.

High school football is back, and while you can’t use stats to tell the whole story about how well offensive linemen are playing, you can certainly see it in highlights. Pancake blocks are frequent when discussing the best trench monsters around the nation.
Rivals is taking a look at the top 10 offensive tackle prospects in the 2027 Rivals300, along with how well their high school programs are playing early on in the 2026 season now that most have played at least a game or two.
1. Mark Matthews — Texas A&M
Rivals300 Ranking: No. 2 NATL.
School: St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.)
Committed Since: May 15
St. Thomas Aquinas is loaded with stars and Matthews leads the way. The 6-foot-5.5, 285-pounder is a mover of humans and his Raiders are off to a quick 2-0 start following a 38-14 rout of DeSoto (Texas) last week. Another massive tilt is on deck this Friday as STA, the No. 4 team in the nation, hosts No. 18 Columbus (Fla.).
2. Cooper Hackett — Oklahoma
Rivals300 Ranking: No. 11 NATL.
School: Fort Gibson (Okla.)
Committed Since: Sept. 25, 2025
Fort Gibson is without its five-star senior as Hackett opted for shoulder surgery back in the summer. The Tigers lost their season-opener last week, falling 41-14 at home to Sapulpa. They are at Berryhill this week and are now the No. 103 team in Oklahoma, per the Rivals Composite Rankings.
3. Olu Olubobola — Notre Dame
Rivals300 Ranking: No. 19 NATL.
School: St. Peter’s Prep (N.J.)
Committed Since: May 12
Olubobola’s senior season got underway in South Florida last week as St. Peter’s Prep made the long trip and left with a 17-7 win at Dillard (Fla.). The Marauders, now the No. 4 team in New Jersey, are back in the Northeast for a huge tilt at home vs. St. Thomas More, the No. 1 team in Connecticut, on Saturday.
4. Kaeden Penny — Oklahoma
Rivals300 Ranking: No. 27 NATL.
School: Bixby (Okla.)
Committed Since: Sept. 25, 2025
The primary bulldozer in the trenches for the No. 1 team in Oklahoma, Penny helped guide his team to a humongous 35-27 road win over Owasso last week in what was a state title rematch from last season. Bixby is now the No. 22 team in the nation and its home-opener is set for this Friday vs. Stillwater. Another round with Jenks, the No. 2 team in the state, will follow on Sept. 11.
5. Antonio Berry — Ole Miss
Rivals300 Ranking: No. 31 NATL.
School: Tupelo (Miss.)
Committed Since: June 24
Tupelo is the No. 1 team in Mississippi, according to the Rivals Composite Rankings. The Golden Wave got off on the right foot last week, taking down Brandon at home, 38-12. Up next for Berry and Co. is CPA, which makes the trip from Nashville to the Magnolia State.
6. Elijah Hutcheson — Florida
Rivals300 Ranking: No. 77 NATL.
School: Roanoke Catholic (Va.)
Committed Since: May 5
Hutcheson is in line to become perhaps the highest-ranked high school prospect to ever come out of Roanoke Catholic. His team began the season with a high-scoring 43-37 road victory over Trinity Episcopal. Off this week, they’ll return to action next Saturday vs. Fredericksburg Christian.
7. Layton von Brandt — Auburn
Rivals300 Ranking: No. 79 NATL.
School: Appoquinimink (Del.)
Committed Since: May 18
Appoquinimink enters this season as the No. 4 team in Delaware, according to the Rivals Composite Rankings. The Jaguars, led by von Brandt, will finally begin their 2026 campaign next week at home vs. Philadelphia George Washington (Pa.).
8. Kennedee Jackson — Georgia
Rivals300 Ranking: No. 100 NATL.
School: Lithonia (Ga.)
Committed Since: June 13
Jackson is one of five ranked prospects on Lithonia’s roster this fall and the Bulldogs are aiming for a deep postseason run. They are 1-0 after a 37-8 home romp of Martin Luther King Jr. last week. Their first big test comes this Friday on the road vs. Lowndes, the No. 10 team in the Peach State, per the Rivals Composite Rankings.
9. Rashaun Lavata’i — Washington State
Rivals300 Ranking: No. 118 NATL.
School: Curtis Senior (Wash.)
Committed Since: June 23
The top-ranked Group of Six commit in the Rivals300, Lavata’i leads the line for the Curtis Vikings, who open their season this Friday at Silas in Tacoma. Curtis is eyeing its fifth-straight winning season this fall and the towering 6-foot-6, 270-pounder will be tough to deal with for opponents in the trenches.
10. Jakari Lipsey — Michigan
Rivals300 Ranking: No. 129 NATL.
School: Loy Norrix (Mich.)
Committed Since: May 2
No blue-chip offensive tackle has put together more ferocious film than Lipsey thus far. Loy Norrix improved to 2-0 this week with a 41-18 win over Ottawa Hills and the Michigan commit was routinely chucking defensive linemen all over the field with brute force. On the opening drive alone, he stacked three pancake blocks.
