Rutgers women’s basketball has received its first commit of the 2027 class, as Emily Forrester, a 6-foot-3 forward out of Saint James Academy High School in Virginia, has decided to commit to the Scarlet Knights. The announcement came via her social media account Friday afternoon.
Forrester stands at 6-foot-3, and committed to the program after taking an official visit to the school last weekend. According to The Knight Report, she was one of three players who took an official visit to campus that weekend.

She is unranked by Rivals and 247 Sports; however, ESPN gave her a scout grade of 92 and four stars, making her the 77th highest-rated player in the nation according to their rankings.
While specific stats from her high school playing days are hard to come by, one thing that came up a few times during her different player evaluations is her good overall length for her position.
In addition to playing at the high school level, Forrester also played on Team Durant in the EYBL Circuit this summer.
The 2027 class will be new head coach Gary Redus II’s first as the head coach of Rutgers, with Forrester being the first commit of that class.
Forrester chose to commit to Rutgers over teams like Tulsa, Marquette and Missouri.
