Why is Ryan Coleman-Williams still dropping easy catches for Alabama?

Alabama wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams needs a strong 2026 season to boost his 2027 NFL Draft stock, but his team's season opener against East Carolina could have, well, gone better.
Coleman-Williams' bad habit of dropping passes came into full view in Tuscaloosa on Saturday, as he suffered two absolutely terrible drops on what should have been big plays for the Crimson Tide.

We're not sure what happened here, but Coleman-Williams seemed to lack any meaningful focus on these drops. It was like he either didn't know the ball was coming his way as it was coming right at him, or he's got a generationally terrible case of the yips.
For Alabama to reach its ceiling this year, it has to get more from this from Coleman-Williams. He's just not going to even establish himself as a first- or second-round wide receiver with these kinds of drops.

Alabama still has a whole season in front of it, but Coleman-Williams has to reel in some of these easy completions.

The team travels up to Lexington to play Kentucky next Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET.
