Four years after their alleged affair made headlines, Matthew Booth and his partner Bongani Mthombeni have announced their pregnancy.

The former Bafana Bafana player was previously married to Sonia Booth, who exposed his alleged tryst in a series of social media posts, later dubbed “cheesecake-gate”.
At the time, Bongani was married to University of Cape Town professor, Klaus Moller.

On their Instagram accounts, Matthew Booth and Bongani Mthombeni have shared their pregnancy announcement.
“Tiny kicks are officially on the way”, Bongani shared of a picture of three pairs of sneakers, one of them belonging to a baby.
In another, Bongani shared a look at her growing baby bump during a couple’s workout with Matthew. She posted another on her IG Stories.
Bongani was previously married to Klaus Moller, a professor of engineering at the University of Cape Town. The couple, who share two sons, divorced shortly after news of her alleged affair with Matthew came to light.
In 2022, in what was described as “cheesecake-gate,” former Miss SA finalist Sonia Booth accused her ex-Bafana Bafana player husband of cheating on her with his alleged longtime mistress. Sonia discovered the “affair” after claiming that her husband had secretly made a cheesecake for Bongani.
She made further bombshell allegations – like claims her ex was misusing funds from the Booth Trust and trying to track her movements.
Matthew Booth denied the accusations and threatened to take legal action against his wife.
Sonia later told Radio 2000 that her divorce had been “heavily contested and nasty.” She also claimed that it “drained me emotionally, physically, and financially.”
‘I AM NOT A MISTRESS’
In a tell-all several years later, Bongani Mthombeni denied being in a relationship with Matthew Booth at the time of the viral claims.
The fitness fanatic claimed to be a business partners with Matthew, and claimed that the accusations, particularly the social media troll attacks, had severely impacted her mental health.
She said: “I was not a mistress. But even a mistress would not deserve to be bullied like that”.
Bongani claimed that she and Matthew entered a romantic relationship several months after the accusations made headlines.
