Seahawks sign S D'Anthony Bell to practice squad

· Yahoo Sports

The Seattle Seahawks have reunited with a familiar veteran presense once more. On Saturday afternoon, it was announced the Seahawks would be signing safety D'Anthony Bell to their practice squad. Bell was with the Seahawks for training camp and the preseason, but did not survive the final round of roster cuts.

Now, Bell is on the practice squad and will be an excellent depth option for Seattle ahead of the Week 1 Super Bowl rematch with the New England Patriots. As it stands, the Seahawks only have three safeties on their active 53-man roster: Julian Love, Ty Okada, and Nick Emmanwori - whose status for that game is up in the air.

D'Anthony Bell certainly has familiarity with the Seahawks' defense. He was with Seattle for 14 games last year, and started in two of them. He was eventually waived by Seattle in late December, and claimed by the Carolina Panthers. The Seahawks did graciously grant Bell a Super Bowl LX ring despite being a member of the Panthers to respect his contributions to their championship season.
