More stormy weather is in store for the GTA on Wednesday, though it’s not predicted to be as severe as last week’s violent storms that brought down trees, flooded and collapsed roads and caused widespread power outages, according to The Weather Network .
Heat, humidity and a frontal system could possibly bring severe storms with heavy rains and wind reaching up to 80 km/h. Showers ought to begin early Wednesday around 4 a.m. and could continue into mid-morning. Temperatures will start around 18 C , well above the seasonal average of 11 C, and peak at around 26 C in the early afternoon. Humidity is predicted to be high, so expect mugginess all day.
The skies ought to be clear until 3 p.m., when heavy storms will arrive in time for school pickup and the afternoon commute home. The storms are expected to last two to three hours with possible lightning between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Toronto and areas east of the city will likely get the worst of it, likely Oshawa and Peterborough, seeing as much as 50 millimetres of rain, which poses a flood risk.
