Former NFL star Edgerrin James breaks silence on son’s concerning behavior

The University of Cincinnati send a strongly-worded letter to former guard Jizzle James, the son of former NFL star running back Edgerrin James, telling him to stop using the school’s name and likeness.

“As you are no longer a member of the University of Cincinnati men’s basketball program, you are no longer authorized to use, represent, or commercially promote the University of Cincinnati basketball program, including the use of the University’s name, logos, uniforms, jerseys, or other team-related likenesses,” a message from the school read.
James responded, “I have my own merch I made. I don’t need y’all jerseys, and [expletive] Cincinnati for all I care.”
The comment came just a few weeks after the Charlotte basketball program issued a roster update without the guard. Now his father, a Pro Football Hall of Fame running back, is adding unfortunate context to the situation.

Edgerrin James Issues Statement on Son Jizzle James

“You’re not helping him by feeding the problem. He wants/needs for nothing,” James said in the post. “Give him a hug, give him encouragement, give him love, that’s it…be patient with him. We’re fighting for him, not against him.”
James played for Cincinnati from 2023-26 and appeared in 95 games for the program. He recently suggested his services for the college basketball world remain open after being released from Charlotte.
