PSL club say NO to R15 million offer

According to iDiski Times reporter Sinethemba Makonco, Zabrze, which is co-owned by former Germany World Cup winner Lukas Podolski, were expected to return with an improved proposal.

However, they could not meet Cape Town City’s demands, including Orlando Pirates who also expressed serious interest. With the Polish transfer window closing on September 10, Witbooi now looks set to remain with the Citizens.
The latest offer is another indication of the growing interest in Emile Witbooi. Born on August 28, 2008 in Kimbarley, the attacking midfielder is the son of former professional winger Surprise Ralani.
Witbooi joined the Cape Town City academy in January 2024 after developing at the School of Excellence. His talent soon attracted attention from abroad.
In November 2024, he travelled to England for an assessment with Premier League giants Chelsea Just months later, he made history.
Witbooi made his PSL debut against AmaZulu on March 2, 2025, at 16 years, six months and five days old.
That made him the youngest debutant in Cape Town City’s history and the ninth-youngest player to appear in South African top-flight football at the time.

The teenager’s development has continued despite Cape Town City’s relegation from the Betway Premiership.
Witbooi played an important role in the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season and was named the league’s Player of the Season for 2025/26.
His performances have attracted interest from several clubs, including Orlando Pirates, who previously enquired about his availability.
However, the Buccaneers did not proceed after learning of City’s approximately R20 million valuation.
There has also been interest from unnamed Major League Soccer clubs, although no deal materialised before the MLS window closed.
Now, Górnik Zabrze have also walked away after failing to meet City’s valuation. For now, Emile Witbooi remains a Cape Town City player.
And the Citizens appear unwilling to let their teenage star leave cheaply.
