Entering its matchup versus Texas A&M International Saturday afternoon, Angelo State carried a three-match winless streak. That included two losses and a draw, all on the road. For the majority of Saturday's contest, the Rambelles kept the Dustdevils in check. But last minute heartbreak proved to be the difference as Angelo State lost a 1-0 contest.
Dustdevils forward Riley Brown scored the go-ahead goal in the 87th minute on an outside shot that barely snuck past Angelo State goalkeeper Claire Stoermer's glove. Despite the late mistake, Stoermer still recorded six saves on the day.
In head coach Mike Erwin's vision, Angelo State's biggest issues lately revolve around fatigue and limited numbers.
"Numbers are catching up with [Angelo State] a bit," Erwin said. "[The Rambelles] are low on numbers and you can see the fatigue. We had no subs at the end basically, but it's not an excuse by any means. I think we were extremely sloppy in play, we gave the ball away right and left, and created a bunch of counterattacks because of that and [Texas A&M International] finally punished us for it."
The Rambelles drop to 1-3-2 on the 2026 regular season and will host Dallas Baptist next Wednesday, Sept 16. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. CST.
