The Boston Celtics recently signed Devin Carter to an Exhibit 10 contract, allowing him to work out with the team throughout training camp and preseason. Carter, 24, entered the NBA in 2024 with the 13th overall pick. He's spent his rookie and sophomore seasons with the Sacramento Kings before ultimately being traded and then waived by the Atlanta Hawks.

The one knock on Carter is that he's struggled to shoot the ball since entering the NBA, averaging 49.2 percent from the 2-point range and 26.3 percent from deep. Yet, what Carter lacks in scoring, he makes up for in defense, hustle, basketball IQ, and potential upside. Therefore, Boston has a chance to secure a potential steal in free agency, assuming he can impress the coaching staff in the coming weeks.

They pointed out the success Boston has had in developing talent in recent years and questioned whether Carter could be the next beneficiary of that talent pipeline.
