‘Extremely excited’ – Draymond Green responds to Steve Kerr’s comments on his role with the Warriors next season

Golden State Warriors player Draymond Green has expressed excitement about the role head coach Steve Kerr has planned for him next season.
The Warriors finished outside the playoff spot last season, which led the franchise to analyse many things, including their playing style with Green.

Steph Curry averaged 26.6 points per game for the Dubs last season, but that was not enough to get them into the postseason.
Green, on the other hand, averaged 8.4 points per game on 32.6% shooting from three-point range and 41.8% shooting from the field.
It was his lowest shooting percentage since the 2019-20 season. That was the season when the Warriors missed the playoffs and won only 15 games.
Coming off a season of disappointment for the Warriors, Steve Kerr has plans for the way Green is set to play next season.
“We have to cut back on the turnovers,” Kerr said on the recent episode of ‘The Tom Tolbert Show’. “I want him (Green) shooting the three. He may not be a super high-percentage shooter, but possessions are good for us when he shoots.
Green accepts his role with the Warriors
Green has never been known as a shooter in the NBA, but the way the Warriors play, there are times where he is wide open for a shot.
It was only during the 2023-24 season that Green shot 39.5% from three-point range. Next season could be when Green returns to this version for the Warriors.
“I’m extremely excited about this because the last time I shot threes in a rhythm where I was like ‘Ima just let this thing fly’ was like 2016-17…
“I am looking forward to that, it’s not like I’m going to come out cast threes, but I am definitely going to look to get more of them up when I’m open and that’s exciting to hear from your coach cause it’s not necessarily something I have always heard.”
With Curry on the roster, Green has a teammate who commands all the attention of the defense. However, that means there are times when Green and his teammates might get open looks.
If they are able to capitalise on those, the Warriors will be a lot better than they were last season.
