Houston Astros recall Raynel Delgado as insurance for Isaac Paredes and send Ronel Blanco down

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Houston Astros recalled infielder Raynel Delgado from Triple-A Sugar Land and optioned Ronel Blanco to Triple-A prior to Sunday's regular-season finale against the A's.
Delgado offers infield coverage after third baseman Isaac Paredes fouled a ball off his left knee Saturday night. Paredes was in Houston's lineup at third base for Sunday's game. Manager Joe Espada said before the game Paredes' knee "is pretty sore today. But he's good to go."

Blanco pitched the final two innings of Saturday's win against the A's, his first appearance for the Astros since Sept. 13. The right-hander has a 6.68 ERA in 33⅔ major-league innings this season.
Due to being optioned, Blanco cannot be recalled for a minimum of 15 days unless replacing a pitcher going on the injured list. That would rule Blanco out for an AL wild-card round if the Astros win the AL West on Sunday and advance to the playoffs.
Delgado has appeared in 19 games for the Astros this season with a .243/.300/.351 slash line across 41 plate appearances.
