Manchester United have had numerous players in international action over the course of the last week.
Many players have represented their senior national teams, but several academy youngsters have also had a taste of international action.
Jim Thwaites
One of United’s most exciting youth talents is midfielder Thwaites.
The 18-year-old has impressed many at the club with his dead-ball expertise and passing range for the under-18s and under-21s in recent years.
He has played four games this season, assisting two goals in the UEFA Youth League victory over Sabah.
England call-up
His fine form has seen him called up for England under-20 duty.
The club’s official website added, “Jim Thwaites has made his first England outing, coming on as a substitute for the Under-20s in a fine 2-1 win against France.”
The site continues, “coming off the bench in the 77th minute to replace Southampton’s Jack Robinson, it must have been a special moment for the 19-year-old.”
United had plenty of representation in the squad, which shows the strength and depth of talent in their academy at present.
Ayden Heaven started the match, as did Shea Lacey, who began on the right wing.
Thwaites was not the only United player to see action from the bench.
Midfielder Jack Fletcher also came on in the 60th minute, but his United teammate Harry Amass had to be content with a place on the bench all afternoon.
England will next be in action against Germany on Saturday, where Thwaites will surely be hoping to see more action.
