Excitement at Liverpool: Feeling they've landed unbelievable talent
· Yahoo Sports
There's a real excitement at Liverpool right now. They believe they've landed a truly unbelievable talent.
Liverpool have spent the last couple of summers trying very hard to land the biggest talents available. They've done that without a clear plan, too, signing players purely because of their talent, rather than because of their fit within the squad.

It's how you end up, for instance, with four left-wingers and no right-wingers. It's how you end up signing two strikers for £200m who try to play the same style. And it's why you end up with full-backs who might not actually be full-backs.
But that's not to say that the plan hasn't worked to an extent. Liverpool have undoubtedly signed some incredibly talented footballers and there's particular excitement around one of them.
Especially after his performances already this season.
Excitement at Liverpool over Jeremy Jacquet
Liverpool reportedly believe they've got something truly special in Jeremy Jacquet. The defender signed for the Reds back in January but they had to wait before seeing him - Jacquet didn't formally join the club until the summer.
By then, plans had actually changed. Ibrahima Konate decided to leave the club, meaning Jacquet was no longer a third-choice defender but a second-choice. He's been partnering Virgil van Dijk from the get-go and doing an outstanding job.
Jacquet already looks like one of the best defenders in the league. While there's a long way to go - and a lot of things still to test him - this is about as good a start from a 21-year-old centre-back as anyone could possibly hope for.
That's led to Liverpool, per the Athletic, starting to wonder just how far his potential could take him. The suggestion there is that Jacquet might actually be a bigger prospect than anyone realised - and they already thought he was something worth spending £60m on.
Exciting times, then. Liverpool have been searching for some sort of successor to Van Dijk, who comes to the end of his contract this summer.
