Yuta Suguira shoots 58 on Korn Ferry Tour

Yuta Suguira entered the record books on Saturday with a sizzling 12-under 58 at the Patriot Golf Club in Owasso, Oklahoma, on Saturday in the third round of the Korn Ferry Tour's Compliance Solutions Championship.

The Japanese golfer became the fourth player in Korn Ferry Tour history to break 59 on the development circuit.

The field is torching the Robert Trent Jones Sr.-designed layout once again on a day when preferred lies were in effect. Davis Chatfield shot 59 last year and the winner last year, Adrien Dumont de Chassart, shot 33 under. On a windless third round, the course was as gettable as ever.

Suguira, 25 and a winner of the Advent Health Championship in late August, shot 29 on both sides and even had a bogey. Starting his round on No. 10, he birdied his first two holes, tacked on another at 14 and finished the side with three birdies in a row. He eagled the first hole before his lone bogey at No. 2. But he bounced back with a birdie at the third and then his only par on his second nine at the fourth. Seguira birdied in from there to join the 58 club.

William Sides and Ross Steelman also shot rounds of 60 and there's still a sub-60 watch for leader Carson Young.

Said Sides: "Kind of had a feeling guys were going to go low."
