Here's everythin gyou need to know about this Week 4 matchp at Soldier Field.
Matchup to WatchNew York Jets left tackle Olumuyiwa Fashanu gave up three sacks in the 31-24 loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 3. The former No. 11 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft was beat by power, speed and an inside move against Lions pass rushers.
He will primarily face Bears defensive ends Dayo Odeyingbo and Austin Booker. Montez Sweat has 638 of his 900 defensive snaps on the left side, according to Pro Football Focus, meaning he primarily lines up against the right tackle.
That means Booker and Odeyingbo have to prove they can win some of those one-on-one matchups against a talented player in Fashanu, who is coming off a disappointing performance win Week 3.
Jets quarterback Geno Smith is No. 2 in the NFL with a 75.5 completion %, so defensive coordinator Dennis Allen will need to get creative to get the veteran quarterback to make mistakes.
X-FactorBagent last started a game on Nov. 9, 2023. That's 1,059 days since Bagent was the main man under center. The Bears ' quarterback is a far different player now than he was back then as an undrafted rookie free agent.
The Bears' named Bagent the No. 2 quarterback on the depth chart for a reason and signed him to a two-year, $10 million extension last August. He need to go out there an prove he can operate Johnson's offense at a high level and get his playmakers invovled.
Keenum's 247 passing yards and three total touchdowns against the Eagles does put some pressure on Bagent to perform. This is an opportunity that Bagent has been looking towards and now he will get to show what he can do.
Game PredictionThe Jets showed several areas of vulnerability in the 31-24 loss to the Detroit Lions. On three kick returns, the Lions accumulated 104 total yards. Rookie Zavion Thomas could be in store for a huge day in the return game.
According to Pro Football Focus, the Jets missed six tackles in the Weeek 3 loss. Jets defenders consistently took bad angles on Lions running back Jahmyr Gibss. If the Bears' backfield of D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai can produce similar results, then Chicago's offense will experience plenty of success.
Jets quarterback Geno Smith made some tight-window throws against Detroit's defense, so every blade of grass will need defending. However, defensive coordinator Dennis Allen's unit has improved over the last two weeks. The should be opportunities to blitz Smith to get him off his mark.
Bears win this game convincingly, 27-17.
