Vote for Arizona high school sports Team of the Month for September

The Arizona Republic is launching a new feature asking readers to vote in a monthly poll for the Arizona High School Team of the Month.

The monthly poll, sponsored by Diamond Kitchen & Bath, will feature both boy and girl team nominees based on overall performances for the month. Here is our first poll for September performances. The poll will remain open until Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 5 p.m. MST. Print readers can find the poll with this story online at azcentral.com/sports/high-schools.
At the end of the school year, we will present one poll with each month's winner, in which readers can vote for the overall Team of the Year for 2026-27.
September nominees
Tucson Salpointe Catholic flag football: The Lancers went 4-0 in September to open up the 2026 season, outscoring teams 216-0.
ChandlerHamilton badminton: The No. 1-ranked 6A team, they went 9-0 through September, winning each match in a shutout.
Queen Creek Benjamin Franklin football: The 3A team is now 7-0, a run that included winning four games in September in which they did not give up a point to any opponent.
Phoenix Brophy swim/dive: They have been dominant all season, winning the Sept. 12 Brophy/Xavier Invitational with 576 points, beating the next three teams combined by more than 400 points. They also won the Craig Cummins Invitational with 432 points on Sept. 19.
Phoenix Xavier golf: The 3-time defending Division I girls' state champions had a dominant win at the the 2026 Brophy Rodeo against top teams from Arizona, California and Nevada. The Gators won with a final overall score of 559, 17-under — 23 strokes better than second-place Torrey Pines. Xavier finished the month ranked No. 1 in the state in the iWanamaker rankings.
GibertHighland boys beach volleyball: This is the newest AIA-sanctioned fall sport. Highland swept through September going 6-0 and winning every match 5-0. They are ranked No. 1.
Gilbert Christian girls volleyball: The Knights finished September 11-0 in AIA matches and 23-1 overall counting tournament matches. Their only loss came a tournament match. They are ranked No. 1 in 3A.
