Pacers provide good news but limited information on Tyrese Haliburton injury

INDIANAPOLIS — Tyrese Haliburton was not limited in practice Monday after missing the Pacers’ preseason game against the Hawks, head coach Rick Carlisle said on Monday afternoon.
Haliburton suffered a “mild tweak of the ankle” in the Pacers’ first preseason game in Ames, Iowa, on Oct. 7, Carlisle said ahead of the game against the Hawks. It was Haliburton's first true game action in 16 months after he tore his Achilles in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals.

He missed the Pacers’ second preseason game, a 119-17 loss to Atlanta at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday, as he rehabbed his ankle injury. Carlisle said ahead of the game that Haliburton got an MRI done and was checked out by all doctors, and there was no structural issue with his ankle or his surgically-repaired Achilles.
While Haliburton participated fully in practice Monday, Carlisle did not say whether the point guard would be available for Indiana’s third preseason game in Oklahoma City on Tuesday night.
“I’ll let you know tomorrow who is going to play,” he said.
The NBA does not mandate day-before injury reports for preseason games.
If Haliburton doesn’t play on Tuesday, the Pacers have one more preseason game against Milwaukee on Friday before their season opener in New Orleans on Oct. 21.
