Prime Video has released a new trailer for the upcoming third season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power that revealed more of the war to stop Sauron from forging the One Ring. You can watch the trailer via the player above or the embed below.

Season 3 is set several years after the events depicted in Season 2, picking up the story at the height of the War of the Elves.

While the new trailer features more looks at the Nazgnagôl, a Mûmakil, and fell beasts, the best is saved until last when Sauron dons the One Ring, which will allow him to bind all the peoples of Middle-earth to his will.

“I see the path to victory so certain,” Sauron says. “I will take my place as a conqueror, a sorcerer. A king. We have work to do.” These lines are spoken over footage of a Nazgnagôl getting the upper hand of Galadriel in a fight. (Sauron also seems to be getting into Galadriel’s head at one point as she dreams that he’s lying in bed next to her.)

It also appears Sauron will battle the Balrog at some point this season as the trailer shows a fiery battle. (Simon Pegg voices the Balrog in the show.)

After the death of Celebrimbor in the Rings of Power Season 2 finale, Sauron is still seeking to forge the One Ring to rule them all as Season 3 begins. It would seem this season is going to see the Dark Lord come out on top in his quest to bring Middle-earth under his rule – well, for now anyway.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 debuts on Prime Video on November 11. In the meantime, read up on the show’s mysterious new orc character and learn why the Harfoots won’t be in Season 3.
