Taylor Thierry, a 1,000-point scorer for the Buckeyes from 2021-25, has spent the last two seasons in the WNBA and most recently played for the Seattle Storm in 2026. She will now join Kevin McGuff's staff as director of player development.

“She’s incredibly passionate about this program and has shown how much hard work pays off," McGuff said in a statement. "I’m looking forward to having her on the bench to help our young women continue to grow and compete at the highest level of collegiate women’s basketball.”

Thierry's 131 career games at Ohio State are 11th-most in program history. During that time, she averaged 9.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.5 assists per game and started all 101 games during her final three years. As a senior, her 2.3 steals per game tied her for the Big Ten lead, and as of her departure, Thierry was ranked fifth in field goal percentage (.597), 10th in steals (234), 15th in rebounds (675) and 23rd in scoring (1,270).

She was a third-round pick by the Atlanta Dream in the 2025 WNBA Draft and appeared in 17 games as a rookie. Her playing time grew after signing with Seattle, totaling 165 minutes in 2026 and averaging 1.9 points and 1.7 rebounds in 9.7 minutes per game.

“I’m incredible grateful and excited for the opportunity to return to Ohio State in this role,” Thierry said in a statement. “Being part of this program has always been a special privilege, and I look forward to working with our student-athletes and providing the guidance and support they need to reach their full potential, both on and off the court.”

Thierry will work with the coaches and training staff to develop individual player development plans and serve as a mentor to members of the current Ohio State team.

The Buckeyes will open the 2026-27 season with a home game against Illinois Chicago on Nov. 2.
