Cowboys’ Joey Porter Jr. Claps Back at Critics With Pointed Message
· Yahoo Sports
Joey Porter Jr. doesn’t pay much attention to the outside noise. The Dallas Cowboys defensive back believes he can silence them all — in time.
Porter missed the first four weeks of the season when he was still with the Pittsburgh Steelers and amid a contract standoff with his former team. He has since been traded to the Cowboys and has seen action in three games for the NFC East franchise, but there are doubts about whether he would be as focused on playing (and healthier) if Dallas had already inked him to a contract extension, which he hasn’t.

Cowboys CB Porter is Not Sweating What Critics Are Saying About Him

“Me personally, I know the real,” Porter said, via Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “I know the truth. I don’t really pay too much attention online to what they have to say. I just got to keep doing my job on Sundays. Once they see the tape, they’ll know. They’ll be quiet soon.”
In the three games he’s played with the Cowboys, thus far, Porter has been a fantastic asset for Dallas’ secondary. The former Penn State Nittany Lions defensive back has surrendered just a catch for five yards across nine targets.
“It’s nothing new for me,” Porter added. “I think I’ve always been capable of such. I feel like the tape from the last couple of years showed the same thing. I just keep the main thing the main thing.”
The 26-year-old Porter will once again look to do his part this coming Sunday, when Dallas hosts the Jacoby Brissett and the Arizona Cardinals in a Week 8 showdown at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
Dallas acquired Porter in October via a trade with the Steelers, who received a 2027 sixth-round draft pick and a 2028 second-round draft pick in exchange for the cornerback.
