While the celebration was delayed for a day after the Brewers couldn’t complete the sweep on Tuesday night, they didn’t have to wait long to start popping champagne.

Ace and soon-to-be Cy Young winner Jacob Misiorowski pitched nearly six innings of shut-out ball, giving up just two hits to the Tampa Bay Rays lineup. By the time he left the mound, Milwaukee had worked up a 4–0 lead that proved good enough to take the title.

The Rays made them work for it in the ninth inning. A two-out double from Chandler Simpson brought home Liam Hicks to get the Rays on the board, and for a moment, the tying run was on deck. But closer Trevor Megill shut things down there, forcing a groundout from Richie Palacios to end the game and with it, the 2026 MLB season.

For the national viewing audience, it was Joe Davis on the call for the final out.

“Palacios, grounds one softly,” Davis said as the ball left the bat. “Unshakable! Unstoppable! And champions at last! The Milwaukee Brewers!”

On ESPN Radio, it was Jon “Boog” Sciambi, who relayed the final play to listeners.

“Megill, kicks, fires. Swing and a ground ball, this oughta do it. Turang, to Bauers. And for the first time ever, Milwaukee fans can say it — the Brewers are World Series champions!”

And maybe the most rousing call came from Milwaukee radio station WTMJ calling the game for their home team.

“The 2–1 pitch. Ground ball second base. Turang has it, goes to first,” said announcer Jeff Levering. “The wait is over! The Brewers have won the World Series!”

Levering then laid out for a bit as the Brewers fans, who showed up extremely strong in Tampa Bay, cheered on their team.

Congratulations to the Brewers on their first ever title. Enjoy this one Brewers fans, you earned it.
