This home invasion shooting has two people fighting for their lives happened in a mansion in Toronto’s most posh (and most secure) part of town.

Early Thursday, Toronto Police responded to reports of three people being shot inside a residence on Hyde Park Circle in the Bridal Path at 3:43 a.m.

Four people were rushed to hospital – three of whom were shot. Two are said by police to be in life-threatening condition.

It’s a disturbing call anytime people are violated in their own home, but when it happens in a neighbourhood known for the rich and famous, it certainly grabs attention.

Police say three suspects fled the area in an SUV. A few minutes later, at 4:19 a.m., a man attended St. Joseph’s Hospital at The Queensway and Parkside Dr. with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Police have not said if there is a relation between this and what transpired at the Bridal Path.

Were people inside home targeted?

It’s also unknown what the motive was in the Hyde Park incident. Was it a robbery, or were people inside targeted?

Investigators are set to update the public this morning.

This is not the first shooting in the Bridle Path . On May 7, 2024, a security guard was shot in the chest outside of entertainment superstar Drake’s estate at 21 Park Lane Circle, which is in the vicinity of this latest shooting in the Bayview and Lawrence Area.

It’s also not the first time a prominent residence has been targeted. Honey and Barry Sherman were found murdered in their high-end home at 50 Old Colony Road in 2017 — a case that has not yet been solved. In this case, neighbours describe the home as being lived in by a woman who has two daughters.

This is a developing story.
